Results of a survey among managers of small and medium-sized enterprises reveal a gloomy mood in executive suites. Bureaucracy, skills shortage, and outdated corporate culture were named as the main problems. Only 42 percent of the respondents consider the medium-sized sector to be future-proof. Every second participant expresses skepticism about the future viability of medium-sized businesses. Four percent of those surveyed completely deny the viability of medium-sized businesses. The survey interviewed 520 executives from medium-sized companies with annual sales of at least 20 million euros.
