Google’s autonomous driving unit Waymo announced on Thursday it has agreed to expand its cooperation with Fait Chrysler Automobiles NV by 62,000 Chrysler Pacifica hybrid minivans to its fleet as it prepares to roll out a self-driving taxi service in the United States later this year.

“We’re excited to deepen our relationship with FCA that will support the launch of our driverless service, and explore future products that support Waymo’s mission,” Waymo CEO Jonh Krafcik stated. Fiat Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne added that the automaker is committed to bringing the self-driving technology to its customers in a “safe, efficient and realistic” manner.

Waymo initially announced plans to buy thousands of autonomous vehicles from Fiat Chrysler in January and noted it plans to launch its self-driving ride-hailing service in over 20 US cities.
