United Airlines announced on Wednesday that from now on its passengers will be able to check in and see flight information via Amazon’s digital assistant Alexa.
“Introducing the new skill to check-in and receive flight information with Alexa is an innovation that gives customers extra time to prep for a business meeting, play with their children or relax as they get ready for their upcoming flight,” Praveen Sharma, vice president of digital products and analytics at United stated.
The US-based airline noted that their customers who possess Amazon Echo or Amazon Echo Dot can now activate the service by enabling the United skill in the Alexa app and giving the command “Alexa, ask United…”
Besides using the new feature for their check-in, United passengers can get further details about their flights, including whether wifi will be available during the flight. United customers can also ask Alexa about the status of their flight.
United pointed out this is the first time a US airline has provided its customers with Alexa service.
