Twitter introduces harsher rules

Twitter Inc. has introduced on Friday, a change in its rules regarding abuse, spam, self-harm and other similar topics. The company has also added information about what would follow, after posting such content, like suspending the account for example. Twitter introduced a safety calendar which will show when certain measures are expected to take place. The calendar showed that social network will present new rules the same day it was created.

These changes have been announced in October. Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey said the company has decided to introduce more severe rules and become more forceful in applying them. Among the thing that company will sanction he listed: “unwanted sexual advances, non-consensual nudity, hate symbols, violent groups, and tweets that glorifies violence.”

New rules took place following the #WomenBoycottTwitter protest, however (sexual) harassment on the platform represents a much older issue. Twitter has earlier been accused not for lacking rules, but for failing to enforce them.
