Snapchat to launch development platform – report

Snapchat plans to roll out its first developer platform, still working on it in secret, according to a report by Tech Crunch. The platform dubbed Snapkit will reportedly let other apps use “login with Snapchat” options, host a version of Snap’s camera software and allow apps the use of Bitmoji avatars.

The move could result in Snap login function appearing in a variety of mobile apps, reportedly allowing an alternative to younger users looking for privacy-safe ways to use other apps without creating new accounts.

Beginning of May, Snap reported a net loss of $285 million in the first three months of 2018, improving 83% from the same period in 2017 when it included a $2 billion stock-based compensation expense.
