NASA and SpaceX delay TESS satellite launch

Elon Musk’s aerospace manufacturer SpaceX said the launch of National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s (NASA) TESS satellite has been delayed, with the next targeted launched scheduled for Wednesday. In a Twitter message, the company cited “additional GNC [guidance, navigation and control] analysis” on the Falcon 9 rocket as the reason.

SpaceX’s reusable rocket will carry TESS into orbit, where its mission will be to search for planets circling stars relatively close to the Sun. It is expected to discover “thousands of worlds over the course of its two-year prime mission” according to TESS team members.
