Musk calls Zuckerberg’s AI understanding ‘limited’

Tesla and SpaceX founder and philanthropist Elon Musk hit back on Tuesday at Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg for calling him out on his artificial intelligence (AI) stance. Earlier, Zuckerberg blasted Musk for his pessimism about the AI’s future, branding it “pretty irresponsible.”

“I have pretty strong opinions on this. I am optimistic,” stated Zuckerberg when answering a question related to AI and Musk’s fears of it. “And I think people who are naysayers and try to drum up these doomsday scenarios — I just, I don’t understand it. It’s really negative and in some ways, I actually think it is pretty irresponsible.”

Zuckerberg is a known supporter of Artifical Intelligence. He has even built his own Jarvis AI into his family home which he shares with wife Priscilla Chan.

However, the South African billionaire answered back, slamming Facebook founder over Twitter. Musk said he already had the opportunity to discuss the subject with Zuckerberg, stating: “I’ve talked to Mark about this. His understanding of the subject is limited.” Musk backs his viewpoints by arguing that appropriate safety measures and precautions are necessary to protect humanity against mainstream AI.
