Huawei rushes to launch folding smartphone

China’s smartphone maker Huawei Technologies plans to launch folding smartphones before its biggest rival, Samsung Electronics, the Nikkei Asian Review reported.

The first batch of the premium foldable handset with a flexible screen could be limited to 20,000 to 30,000 units but the idea is for Huawei to “demonstrate its technical capability and to attract the industry’s attention and media coverage,” a person familiar with Huawei plan said.

The price of the product, that will hit the market by early 2019, is still unknown.
