Amazon to create 2,500 jobs in the UK in 2018

EPA/CHRISTOPH DERNBACH Inc. announced on Wednesday it will create over 2,500 permanent jobs in the United Kingdom in 2018. The e-commerce giant noted that with the new positions, it will have almost 28,000 employees in the UK.

“We’re committed to the UK, we’re continuing to invest in the UK,” Doug Gurr, Amazon’s UK country manager, stated. He added the company is trying to ensure that “all the businesses that work with us can continue to operate effectively” after Britain leaves the European Union. “We don’t yet know exactly what the rules [on post-Brexit trade] are going to be. We will wait and see what happens and adapt as necessary,” Gurr pointed out.

Amazon noted the new jobs will include roles in its head office, fashion photography studio, Amazon Web Services, research and development, and operations roles in its development centers.
