Amazon announced on Thursday that, starting from today and over the course of the next week, it will be adding its virtual assistant Alexa to its main shopping app on iOS.
Alexa will both be able to help with shopping, such as initiate searches and track orders, as well as have a range of other features. The user will be able to ask the virtual assistant questions, ask to play music and Kindle books, check news, weather and traffic.
Furthermore, Alexa will feature extensions called Skills as well as Smart Home capabilities. The former may include something like ordering a coffee or calling a cab, while the latter would allow for the control of smart home products such as lights or thermostat.
